Russell Howards Good News on BBC 3 is topical comedy show hosted by Russell Howard, who offers his unique perspective on the big stories dominating the news from online, print to broadcast media.

 

The show mainly features Russell doing a topical stand-up act, but includes sketches and guest appearances from people who have been featured in the media recently.

 

Russell Howard's Good News on BBC 3 manages to walk the line between credibility and boyish charm. Russell comes across as someone who is genuinely thrilled to be on TV, and takes as much pleasure in making us laugh as we do laughing. 

 

Each episode consists of several regular topics and sections, most of these are current news themes in which he discusses related topics. The topics range from the Big News stories of the week and works its way through sports, celebrity, animals, ending up with a hopeful and more optimistic story from the media or internet world.

After completing his schooling, he studied economics at the University of the West of England. He also featured on TV as a panellist on the long running game show “Mock the Week” where he became established as one of a new younger breed of comics.

Howard was commissioned by BBC3 to make a show aimed at the under 25s. Russell Howard's Good News was first aired in October 2009 and by June 2013 the show was gaining audience viewing figures of one and a quarter million.  Digital Spy voted Russell Howards Good News the Best Show Ever aired on BBC3 in February 2013.
